![]() In the late 1990s, German-born Fabian Thylmann created NATS (Next-Generation Affiliate Tracking Software), which was used for marketing pornography across different websites. Many journalistic outlets accuse the company of having a monopoly over the online pornography industry, with 3 out of the 10 most popular online pornography sites owned by MindGeek. In February 2021, a U.S.-based civil class action lawsuit was launched against MindGeek on behalf of child sex trafficking victims whose child sexual abuse material was uploaded to Pornhub. The lawsuit stated that MindGeek knowingly did not "investigate or question its business partner regarding the mounting evidence of sex trafficking". In January 2021, a class action lawsuit making similar claims was launched in Montreal for anyone who had pornography photos and videos, some of which may have been taken when they were underage, shared on MindGeek's sites without their consent, since 2007. They were sued in California for hosting non-consensual pornography produced by GirlsDoPorn, which coerced women into appearing in their videos under false pretenses. MindGeek has been subject to a number of lawsuits and filed litigation against its competitors. In 2013, a spokesperson for the company stated that they were "one of the top five bandwidth consumption companies in the world". MindGeek is headquartered in Luxembourg, and maintains additional offices in Bucharest, Dublin, London, Los Angeles, and Montreal. It operates many popular streaming websites, as well as pornographic film production companies Digital Playground, Men.com, Reality Kings, Sean Cody, and, among others. This could be the result of the seasonal nature of the school calendar, though the lack of notable trends among niche players in the education top 10 lists suggests it might just have been a month without much action.MindGeek (formerly Manwin) is a Luxembourg-based, privately held company with Canada as its center of operations that primarily focuses on pornography. Overall, the growth trends for the education category remained relatively flat. And though ted.com (0.2%) and (1%) stayed in the positive territory, their results weren’t anything to brag about. Not far behind, (-12%) and k12.com (-9%) also saw sharp declines. On the losing side, led the pack with a steep 17% dip in traffic for the month. The category winner in the month of March was edx.org with a strong 16% month-over-month growth rate. Of the top 10 sites, 6 saw month-over-month increases, while the remaining 4 saw moderate to steep declines. The Education category saw small gains in the month of March with an overall growth of 0.2%. The Most Visited Websites - US, Education Category Following, Intuit saw a larger than average decline of 6%, though this drop makes sense in light of the approaching end of the U.S. Likewise,, which also operates in the education category, saw a loss of 3%. ![]() The biggest loser was, which saw a decline of 7% month over month. Only five domains saw losses, and each dropped less than 10%. On the losing side, the downturns were slim. While there’s not an organizing feature among these players, all three domains saw traffic losses in February, so the gains in March are a positive sign. Other winners in March included ESPN (33%), Accuweather (24%), and Target (24%). Among other winners, Home Depot (34%) and Zillow (22%) saw strong turnarounds after a tough month in February. Ticketmaster took the prize with a massive jump in traffic of 48%, perhaps inspired by Swifties picking up their tickets for Taylor Swift's history making tour. While there wasn’t a consistent trend among winners in March, a few sites saw higher than average gains. Fellow Social media sites also had a strong month in March with Reddit (12%), Twitter (12%), and Instagram (12%) all showing double-digit gains to counter slight losses last month. YouTube and Facebook saw similar gains of 15% and 8%, respectively. List leader, Google (12%), saw typically high traffic numbers. The usual suspects remained in the top 10, with each of the leaders seeing an increase in traffic. ![]() Of the top 100 sites, 5% saw traffic decreases, and of those domains, none saw a drop of more than 10%. Overall, gains were tiny with an average increase of just 0.1%. websites list showed the slightest of gains month-over-month as markets sought a foothold after a somewhat rocky start to 2023.
